Our Leadership Team

At NBC we have a Minister and a group of elected deacons who form our Leadership Team.

The role of the minister can include lots of different things. At its heart however, is a calling to pray for and minister to God’s people, so that they may grow and flourish in their faith; and to encourage and enable the church to be a blessing to its community.

The minister works with the deacons and the Church Meeting to help us discern what God is saying, and the direction Jesus is leading us as a church.

The word ‘deacon’ is found in the New Testament several times, as the early church begins to develop and work out ways of organising itself. You can read about deacons in 1 Timothy 3, Acts 6 and Titus 1.

Together they are also our legal charity trustees, and ensure the church fulfils its responsibilities as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).
 

Peter Timothy  Minister  email Peter		I am married to Claire and we have two girls; Mia and Coco. Before moving to Newbury I spent nine years as Minister of Park Baptist Church in Great Yarmouth. I trained for ministry at Regent’s Park College, Oxford, completing a Masters in Theology whilst also Minister-in-Training at Romford Baptist Church. Prior to Baptist ministry I was a newspaper reporter, mainly working for a regional paper in Essex. In my spare time I enjoy playing football and golf and am a big Arsenal fan.
